Bessie Mae Hathhorn

Bessie “Bumpy” Hathhorn, age 81, of Salmon, Idaho, passed away at her home surrounded by family on December 14, 2018, of heart complications.

Bessie was born in Salmon, Idaho on August 22, 1937 to Charles and Bessie Malcolm, the youngest of four daughters.

She met her  husband Raymond Hathhorn in Patterson, Idaho (Ima Mine), and were married on December 23, 1955 in Salmon, Idaho.  To this union were born four children, Ray (1958), Pamela Mae (1960), Jeff (1962), and Marc (1970).

She was a very loving mother and grandmother, a Christian, a great home maker and cook, and had a love for animals.  Bessie was passionate about bowling, a sport she participated in for over 50 years.  She held many league offices, was inducted into Salmon Bowling Association Hall of Fame, and loved her many bowling trips, especially if they went to Nevada.  She loved camping with family, and attending her children’s numerous sporting events. 

Bessie is preceded in death by her parents, sister Jean Parke, sister Delila Young, daughter Pamela Mae Hathhorn, son Ray Hathhorn, and granddaughter Audrey Ann Hathhorn. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Raymond, sister Wilma Williams of Nampa, Idaho, son Jeff of Meridian, Idaho, son Marc (Lorena) of Edwardsville, Illinois, grandchildren Ashley, Emily, Chase, Riley, Maria, and Zoey, great grandchildren Ryan and Rihana, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the Salmon Elks Lodge in Salmon, Idaho, followed by burial in the Salmon Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Salmon Valley or the charity of your choice.
