Wendell Garth Wilcox, age 78, of Twin Falls, Idaho, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa and great grandpa went home to be with the Lord on September 10, 2018. His loving children were by his side. Wendell was always known to tell everyone that he loved them “very, very much.”
Wendell was born in Montpelier, Idaho in 1940 to John Cleveland Wilcox and Sarah Mae Wilcox. He attended school in Murtaugh, Idaho.
Wendell met Rosie Mae Smith and they married in 1963. They later divorced in Twin Falls. Rosie later went home to be with Lord in 2015.
Wendell met Judy Darlene Shope in 1970. They Married December 12, 1970. They were married for 20 ½ years before she went home to be with the Lord in 1991.
Wendell enjoyed the outdoors very much. Every chance possible, he would be fishing, hunting or camping. He worked in the spud fields for many years. He could tell you just about everything you needed to know about Russet Potatoes. He was known to be able to fix anything set before him. He was a plumber who needed his belt “tightened occasionally”. He was the original Maytag repairman. Also, he was a furniture mover for many years. As he got older, he enjoyed being a cookie delivery man who brought smiles to everyone he delivered to. He spoiled the children with left over cookies daily, however, “don’t blame him if any of them have the sweet tooth.”
Wendell is survived by several brothers and sisters who adored him; Glen (Ethel) Wilcox, Bob (Lucy) Wilcox, Betty Brown, Kay Brinker, Carol (Les) Laughter and Calvin (Ginny) Wilcox. Survived by his children; Jackie (Lee) Zapf, LeeAnn (Eric) Beasley, Lori (Bill) Gidney, Kandy (Danny) Soto, Larry (Wendy Chipman) Wilcox, Wendy (John) Blair, Linda (Troyce) McGill and Janet (Stephen) Pierson. Survived by 20 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
Wendell was proceeded in death by his mother; Sarah Mae and father; John, wives; Rosie and Judy, brothers; Paul and Richard Wilcox, nephew; Jeremy, nieces; Pam, Karen and Amber, twin grandsons; Brett and Brad, great grandson; Brayden, and great granddaughter; Kileona.
A memorial visitation will be held at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho, from 7:00pm – 9:00pm on Thursday, September 13, 2018.
Wendell’s celebration of life will be held at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home, on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Judy. Dinner will be served for the family and friend following the interment at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 229 Park Avenue, Twin Falls, Idaho.
