Donald Lee Roemer passed away suddenly on August, 28, 2018, surrounded by his family. Although he will be missed, we cherish our memories made and look back on them with love and joy.
Don was born in Declo, Idaho on January 7, 1939 to Alex and Ruth Roemer. Don spent much of his time growing up outdoors on his parents' farm. Following high school, he attended college at the University of Idaho, and also served in the US Army Reserve. After meeting Karen at a house party in Twin Falls, Idaho in 1968, the couple were married on June 20, 1970 and spent 48 wonderful years together.
Don was a reliable and dependable employee and only worked for one company his entire career as a Service Agronomist. He worked for Northrup King 19 years, and when they branched off to Betaseed, he worked an additional 21 years. After 40 years of work, Don decided to retire in 2004.
His time outside on the farm sparked his love for the outdoors in biking, walking, playing horsehoes, and skiing—Don was also a ski instructor at Soldier Mountain. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends, but of all his activities, golf was his favorite. A sunny afternoon was the perfect recipe for Don to be out on the golf course.
For the last several years Don and Karen lived in Arizona, but spent the summers escaping to a cooler climate. Don loved spending time with those he cared about most. He loved his family and friends, and relished his time with them. One of Don’s last precious family memories was the honor of officiating his granddaughter Adrianne's marriage to Ed Illingworth in June 2018.
Don is survived by his wife, Karen Dodson Roemer, his two daughters, Teri Shea of Texas and Shawna Mynear of Idaho, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his brother James Roemer of Indiana, and sisters Karen Langley and Doris Moress of Idaho.
Don is preceded in death by his parents Alex and Ruth Roemer, and his mother-in-law and father in-law Jack and Freda “Peg” Dodson.
Without a doubt, he will be spending his days golfing above with a twinkle in his eye.
