David Lee Frazier

December 8, 1950 — July 22, 2018

David Lee Frazier, 67, of Twin Falls left this earth on July 22, 2018 after nearly seven years of living and loving harder, with his body functioning at ten percent, than most ever do. He was a true inspiration of strength and bravery. He died at St Luke’s MVRMC in a room filled by family, friends and loved ones.

Dave was born in Bellflower, California on December 8, 1950 to Donald and Edythe Frazier. The family later moved to Twin Falls in 1960 when Dave’s dad bought Smith Roofing. Dave graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1969. He was an outstanding athlete. His favorite sport was baseball. He was an especially fast player, but ultimately was put behind the plate because he was the only one who could control the pitching of his childhood friend, Tim Soran.  He continued to play baseball at The College of Southern Idaho and later enjoyed the local softball leagues. Dave was actually drafted by the Baltimore Orioles after high school. He chose to stay in Twin Falls to pursue his real love in life, his junior high sweetheart, Daniel O'Brien. They wed in 1970.

Dave was a loving husband and father. He looked forward to the birth of his first son in January of 1972. He got what he deserved and was greeted the news of not one, but twin daughters as he waited outside the delivery room. Shocked and elated, he was never the same. He was later blessed with that son in 1974. Dave was fiercely devoted to his wife. He loved to play jokes on her until the very end. He recently boasted that he looked forward that celebrating their 50 year anniversary (and the upcoming NFL season). His sarcasm and sense of humor were coupled with a deep love for his wife and children. He doted on his kids, prideful in all of their accomplishments and often bragged of their rebellious moments too. His eyes sparkled when he spoke of his daughters who cared for him during his last few years. They in turn enjoyed singing off key and finishing his puzzles for him-all the while loving every second they got to return the favor of caring for him. He was blessed with four grandchildren and was excited for the arrival of his first great grandchild in September.

Dave was an active member of the community as the owner of Smith Roofing. He was respected by his clients and competition alike. His expertise continued to be called on long after he was forced to retire. Dave loved riding around and checking out new builds in the community while pointing out the various homes and businesses he had roofed.

Dave was a social butterfly and loved get-togethers with friends and family. He also loved his sports and movies. He wasn’t afraid to fein tiredness in order to go watch a sporting event or movie, leaving his guests to carry on without him. His sense of humor was never affected by illness. Anytime guests were around, Dave was sure to be holding court and bringing laughter and smiles to all around.

Dave will be remembered by all for being a hard, yet fair man who treated everyone with respect. Dave wasn’t afraid to speak his mind or voice his displeasure. He was equally able to pat the same person on the back and share and “I love you” minutes later. Dave had three children, but many men and women of the community looked to him as a father figure and are better people because of him.

Dave is survived by his wife, Danielle, his daughters Heather Frazier and Hollie Leihe and her husband Dave of Boise and son Scott and his wife Brooke of Melbourne, FL, his sister Lynn Slimp and her husband Dave, his sister-in-law Maureen Walker, his grandchildren Rylan, Teagan, Laney and Duncan, his best friend Tim Soran and his wife Sandee, various nieces and nephews and many others who loved him dearly as a father, friend and superhero. Dave is preceded in his death by his parents.
