Gail Lewis age 53 of Jerome, Idaho passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends on May 9th 2018 after a very courageous 18 month battle with cancer.
He was born August 22, 1964 in Jerome Idaho to Harvey & Loretta Lewis.
He graduated in May 1983 from Jerome High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force in February of 1985, serving at McChord AFB and in England. He then returned home to start his career with the City of Jerome Water Department until August of 2009 and continued his career with the City of Twin Falls in August of 2009 and worked until October 12, 2017 having to retire early due to his medical issues, this was a very hard decision he had to make.
He married the love of his life Michelle Bos on March 5, 1993 and they made their home in Jerome, Idaho. On April 19, 2004 they welcomed their biggest blessing and a huge surprise, Ethan John Lewis.
Gail's greatest blessing was his spending time with his loving wife and son and enjoying the great outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing or whatever got him to the mountains or a body of water. He also dedicated his time volunteering day or night for the Jerome Rural Fire Department. He started in June 1990 with his first fire call, which also was his first date with Michelle, that he was way late for, and stayed on the department until the time of his passing. He cherished every moment with his fellow firefighters and was the assistant fire chief for a period of time. He was also a member of the Twin Falls Reformed Church where he attended with many dear family and friends. Gail was also very thankful for his co-workers in Twin Falls and Jerome which became some of his dearest friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many wonderful friends who meant a lot to him. He will be mostly missed by his dedicated, loving and compassionate, very determined wife who never left his side, and never let him give up and his pride and joy his only son Ethan John who became a man in the past year taking over his dad's responsibilities at home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Lewis. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Michelle and his son Ethan. Also survived by his mother Loretta Lewis, Brothers: Jerry Wageman (Cenia), John Lewis, Lane Lewis.(Geri), Sisters: Lyndia Townley (Lowell), Charlotte Evans (Rob), Sandra Allison (Doug), Kathy Schoessler (Dugan), Judy Wilcox (Rick) and numerous nephews and nieces. He was also cherished by the whole Bos Family sharing many memories with Gail over the past 28 years. He was loved deeply, gone but not forgotten.
A special thank you to Encompass Hospice and Dr. Jared Helms, but most of all to his oncologist Dr. Agarwal and his team at clinic 2B at Huntsman Cancer Center in Salt Lake City, who fought this battle with him with everything they had. Also a huge thank you to Dr. James Coombs, Dr. Kyle Klingler and their staff for allowing Michelle to be gone with Gail for every doctor appointment he had, words cannot express our appreciation. There will be a visitation held Sunday May 13th from 3-5 p.m. at Parke's Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, ID.
