Carol Hortel Hill

Carol Marie Hortel Hill was born April 7, 1924 in Ironton, Ohio to George ”Ty” Hortel and Elizabeth Lutz Hortel. 

Carol attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Ironton and business classes in Kentucky.  She married Edwin Leo Hill in 1945. They had two children, Sue and Mike.

As the family moved to different parts of the country, Carol worked as a secretary at the Ironton Firebrick Company, the California Bank in Santa Monica, TRW, and Seligman AZ schools.

She retired in 1986 and spent her time serving at St. Francis Catholic church, the Seligman community, and visiting family.  Carol spent her last years in Twin Falls, ID surrounded by loving family and many dear friends that she met at Silver Sneakers gym class and St. Edward’s Catholic Church.

Carol is survived by daughter Carolyn Sue Rydgren of Greeley, Co; son, Mike (Carol Glenn) Hill of Twin Falls, ID;  sister June (Andy Gagai) of Ironton, Ohio. She had 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by husband, Edwin;  sister, Ruth (Ben Murnahan); and one grandson, Jacob Hill. 

The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions to the ASPCA be made in Carol's name to the ASPCA.
