Joseph Augustine Garechana, 86, of Twin Falls, formerly of the Wood River Valley, passed away April 21, 2018 at the Woodstone Assisted Living Center of Twin Falls.
He was born on December 20, 1931 in Shoshone, Idaho, the son of Cruz and Francis Arambarri Garechana. Joe graduated from the Shoshone High School Class of 1951. After his graduation he worked for the Oneida family milking cows. He then served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After returning from his tour of duty he went on to attend college at Idaho State University in Pocatello. Following his college experience, he worked for the Idaho State Highway Department in Shoshone for a year, and then returned to farming for a year following. In 1957 Joe worked for the Sun Valley Company in Sun Valley until he retired. He then moved to Twin Falls and resided at Woodstone Assisted Living Center.
Surviving are his siblings - Ruby Coates of Graham, Washington, Ben (Ty) Garechana of Salmon, Idaho and Phil Cobeaga of Filer, along with a host of nieces and nephews. Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service conducted by Deacon John Hurley will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at a later date at the Shoshone Cemetery.
