Clifton Eugene Sharp

January 14, 1928 — January 25, 2018

Cliff Sharp passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018, of natural causes in Yuma Arizona at the age of 89.

Cliff was born January 25, 1928, in Osgood, Missouri, the third child of Joseph Harry Sharp and Faye Estele Hatcher. He had three brothers and two sisters; Francis (Viola) Sharp, Leanna (Roy) Johnson, Gene (Ellie) Sharp, Thelma (Sparky) Tucker and Jack Sharp.

His family moved to southern Idaho when he was about 2 years old. He grew up in the Twin Falls and Filer areas where his father farmed. Cliff graduated from Filer High School in 1945. He joined the Navy in 1945 and served aboard the USS Springfield out of Bremerton, Washington as a Fireman Second Class. He was discharged in 1946 but continued to serve in the Navy Reserves until 1958. He started working for the Twin Falls Police Department in 1951 and retired from there in February 1986. During that time, he was involved in competitive handgun and rifle shooting. He also created his own business called Twin Falls Alarm and Signal Company where he installed burglar and fire alarms in businesses throughout the Magic Valley, which was the first of its kind. Following that business, he started another company striping and seal coating parking lots with his brother Gene. Cliff was talented in many ways, a jack of all trades. He shared these talents with family and friends with the many side jobs that he performed for them. After retiring from the Police Department, he drove charter bus for North Side Bus Company for 19 years, driving for various groups and organizations. He especially enjoyed driving the CSI sports teams and thoroughly enjoyed this time interacting with the coaches and athletes. Cliff and his wife even became involved with the CSI booster club, where they were booster parents to four athletes. He never met a stranger and was always interested in others. He had a big heart and a great sense of humor.

He married Mary Eldredge in 1955 and they were blessed with two children, Jerry and Kathy. They later divorced and he married Marjorie Denney on April 7, 1978. She had a son Denny LaJeunesse whom he adopted as his own. Cliff and Marge were happily married for 39 years and did many things in their years together including fishing, hunting, camping and traveling to visit family. In the later years they loved being a part of the Good Sam Club and enjoyed the various RV outings and get togethers each month.

Cliff was a loving husband, father and grandpa. He was a one of a kind person with his upbeat personality, unique sayings, kind heart and deep love for family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie Sharp; son Jerry (Margaret) Sharp of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, daughter Kathy (Ed) Wall of Caroline, Alberta, Canada and son Denny Sharp of Twin Falls; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his sister Leanna Johnson.
