Fred was born September 14, 1926 in Franklin, Pennsylvania, the son of Richard C. and Francis E. (Runninger) Henry. He grew up with his two sisters in Franklin where he graduated from high school in 1944.
After high school, he went to work at a machine shop building air compressors and then at a factory that built Oil Well and Drilling equipment. Shortly after this, he moved from Pennsylvania to Soda Springs, Idaho to become a Grain Elevator Builder.
1949 — 1950, he returned to Pennsylvania and his job building air compressors. In 1952, he returned to Idaho, to learn the well-drilling business. In 1956, Fred bought into a well-drilling business and retired from there in 1988.
Fred married the love of his life, Wilma R. (Mays) Henry on November 16, 1967 at the First Christian Church in Twin Falls, Idaho, They were married for 54 years, and together until Wilma's passing on June 4, 2013.
Fred worked at many varied occupations after leaving drilling until the 1990's when a surgery to implant a pacemaker slowed him down.
When not hard at work, Fred enjoyed wood-working, visiting with friends, going to Jackpot to enjoy the $1.00 chicken dinners and playing slots and cards. Fred was also a member of the Twin Falls Christian Church and the Kimberly Christian Church.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Evelyn Urey and Vida Jean Walters, stepdaughter, Gail Maldonado, five brother-in-laws and two sisters-in-law and his loving wife, Wilma. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving Fred is his stepson — Charles D. Ward and stepdaughter Paula Bourne, both of Las Vegas, his niece, Angela Brown of Unica, PA; also surviving are his 8 step-grandchildren, 23 step-great grandchildren and 11 step-great great grandchildren, his good friend and caregiver, Pat Morris and Blackie the Cat.
Funeral Services for Fred will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 1:00 P.M.
at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, with
Pastor Dan Daugherty officiating. Interment will be held following services at the Twin Falls Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside Wilma.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be sent to the First Christian Church in Twin Falls, Idaho.
