Juanita Cox, age 85, of Filer, Idaho, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital on January 23, 2018.
Juanita was born in Filer, Idaho on June 16, 1932 to Joe and Martha Taylor.
Juanita met her husband Jay Cox, at church and then their love sparked at the Twin Falls County Fair. They were married for 64 years after Jay’s passing in 2012.
Juanita loved to sew, paint, play games with the family, work on puzzles, and travel. Jay and Juanita raised, and taught their seven children to love and serve the Lord Jesus.
Juanita taught Sunday school for most of her life. She stayed at home and raised her children until her youngest child was in high school. During the 1970’s she drove truck for her husband and the Cox Bros. Custom Farming. From 1977 to 1984 she worked at Troy Laundry in Twin Falls, Idaho. From 1984 to 1986 she worked as a nurse’s aide caring for people in their homes. From 1986 to 1999, she worked for CSI in Twin Falls, Idaho as a custodian for the Herrett’s Museum and Office on Aging. She retired in 1999. After that, she and Jay started spending their winter months in Yuma, Arizona, and their summer months at their home in Kimberly, Idaho. After selling their home in Kimberly in 2004, they spent their summers visiting their children in their homes.
She had always dreamed of spending her winters in Arizona, and her dreams were fulfilled. She stayed there until Jay passed away in 2012. Then she lived with Linda Nice, and other family members. Even though she was retired, she and Jay were always very involved in serving God with the church of Christ in Yuma, AZ. This ranged from teaching classes, making repairs on the church building, and serving others in any way they could.
Juanita was a very loving person who was always trying to help anyone that was in need. There were numerous occasions when they opened their home to strangers, and struggling relatives, who were in need. That’s just the way they were.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Martha Taylor; her husband; her four sisters; three brothers; and one grandson.
She leaves behind one brother; seven children; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
A Celebration of Life was held at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to PBS.
