The world moves in an always repeating never ending circle. Day becomes
night, summer becomes fall, and a birth begins a journey that inevitably
must come to an end. On December 26, 2017, a few days before her 84th
birthday, Bonnie slipped away peacefully to meet her Savior and be reunited
with her beloved husband David.
Bonnie began her life on December 29, 1933 in Elgin KS being the first of
six children to be born to Bradley and Hazel Bishop. Being the only child
for nine years, Mom was a bit spoiled by both sets of grandparents that
being evident of a new pony (Pal) and red cowboy boots. She told us that
her Mom would send her to school in pigtails and during lunch she would run
to Grandma's house and Grandma would proceed to curl her hair and send her
back to class after lunch with a stylish hairdo.
In order to give the family a better life, Bonnie's dad sold the farm,
purchased a new Chevy truck and packed up the family and moved to Idaho.
She always said they looked like the Grapes of Wrath family. By that time
sister Connie had arrived and Mom found a new source of joy having a baby
sister. Four more siblings would follow later. Later Bonnie would meet the
love of her life David Lutz. They became engaged on Christmas Eve and were
married the following year on May 30, 1951 and made their home in Clover
Idaho. As kids started coming, life was a whirlwind.
Besides caring for her family, she maintained their home, gardened, canned up a storm and was a great seamstress (proof was the new dresses and coats we girls always had for Easter). She was involved with the Clover Trinity Lutheran Church and School. During the years she had held several positions with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League locally and zone wide. She valued her many Clover friendships over the years. She was never one to turn down a game of cards or share a pizza at Me & Eds or Mazzi's. She was even known to play a mean game of Twister. She worked in the fields during the summer and fall harvests for local Clover farmers, Green Giant cannery in Buhl and drove the Clover School bus. She also worked at White's Mortuary, a Podiatry and Physical Therapy office.
Mom is survived by her three daughters, Debra (John) Simpson of Salem OR, Rebecca (Bob) Putzier of Boise ID and Stephanie Taylor of Haslet TX. Also grandchildren, Lindsey (Brandon) Heidel, Jenney (Isaac) Vasquez, Zachary Simpson, Jasmine (Keith) Palka, Cheyanne Simpson, Jason Taylor, Jacob (Tara) Simpson, and Great-grandchildren, Garin, Griffin and Violet Palka. She is also survived by her siblings: Connie (Fred) Thatcher, Mary (Tom) Irving, Don (Debbie) Bishop and Bud Bishop along with many nieces and nephews and her dear "Lutz" family. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband David Lutz and sister Sharon Mulligan.
Services will be held at Clover Trinity Lutheran Church at a later date.
