Raymond Marizza

In the early morning hours of November 29th, 2017 the crazy Italian, Ray Marizza, escaped his tired body and went to be with his family who left before him. We are positive it was a very loud and joyous reunion.

Ray was born in Coal City, Illinois on March 17, 1934 to Sam and Mary Marizza.  He was the middle child. He excelled in basketball in high school in Coal City. After high school he went to college for a while and then was inducted into the Army.  He served in the military police in Fort Bliss, Texas.  He married Connie Sarver on January 30th, 1960.â  They had five children, Pam Marizza, Boise, Peg Marizza (Teresa Lowder), Rupert, Steve (Cindy) Marizza, Reno, Nevada, Barbara (Neal) Davis, Kimberly and Raymond Marizza, Jr., Kimberly.  In November of 1970, he moved his family to Idaho.  It was an adventure, to say the least. But he made the best of it and became an electrician by trade.  He loved working at Amalgamated Sugar factory in Paul.  He made many friends there. Most of them knew him by Pizza.  His family became quite large as what usually happens with Italian grandchildren. He had a nickname for every one of them, and the great grandchildren, too.  They were all "roundheads" in his book.  He loved every one of them in a special way which is why he nicknamed them.  He was known to them as Papa Rolly.  Ray even nicknamed himself "Spiffy Lazaro".  Dad is survived by his best friend, Connie Marizza, his children and his grandchildren, Shelley Vandenburg, Christin Wolfe, Grant Lincke, Matthew Marizza, Jalen Marizza, Jacob Marizza, Dave Davis, Mitchel Davis, Paul Davis, Megan Perez, Kyle Davis, Jenna Mae Marizza, Amarae Williams, Ashley Marizza, and Danielle Marizza. There are 24 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.  Dad is survived by his brother, Richard (Sharon) Marizza, who lives in Coal City, Illinois. He has many nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly. â He is preceded in death by his parents, and his older brother, Donald Marizza of Littleton, Colorado. 

In his later years, he was well taken care of at Alpine Manor in Twin Falls, Idaho.  Of course, he made many friends there and loved to kiss the pretty girls hands and he nicknamed all of them, too. We will never be able to thank all the wonderful people at Alpine for every minute of the amazing care for Dad. Special thanks to Elaine, Heidi, Ashley, Paula Jennifer Sammi, Adam and everyone else at Alpine Manor who loved our Dad.  

Dad left a legacy of hard work, loyalty, honesty and tons of laughter.  Dad requested no services.  We will celebrate his life next summer.  Although we are saddened by his passing, we celebrate his life with all the wonderful memories that make us laugh.  We know he is free.  Gone from sight but always in our hearts.
