Dorrene Mae Venable

Dorrene Mae (Anderson) Venable, 87, of Twin Falls passed away peacefully Thursday, November 09, 2017 with family by her side.

Dorrene was born April 28, 1930 to Bill and Eva Anderson of Elk Creek NE. Dorrene graduated from Kimberly High and was Senior Class Valedictorian.  She participated in many academic and social clubs during her junior and high school years.  Dorrene married Kenneth Eugene Venable on April 14, 1948 and they raised four children in the Twin Falls area until 1966.  She was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker.  Dorrene was an excellent seamstress and extraordinary in her culinary skills.  She guided her daughters and granddaughters in the art cooking and hospitality.  She was a loyal employee of Three-0 Cleaners in Twin Falls.

In 1966 Ken, Dorrene and children embarked on a new career that took them to Santa Rosa, CA.  For 20 years Ken and Dorrene owned and operated two Arctic Circle drive-in restaurants in Santa Rosa and Healdsburg, CA.  In 1992 they moved back to Twin Falls and many family and friends. 

Ken and Dorrene were devoted RVer’s.  They traveled many years exploring and seeing most of the USA.  They met fellow RV friends and shared golf, sporting events and the thrill of the outdoors.  In their later years they camped closer to home and enjoyed many evenings and mornings around a campfire with family. 

Dorrene was an avid golfer winning many tournaments and quickly surpassed her husband’s golf score.  She enjoyed reading and quiet time with family and friends.  Dorrene was the proud matriarch of a large, fun loving and spirited family. 

Dorrene was greeted in heaven by her loving husband of 69 years, her parents and brothers, Bill (Sonny) and Marvin.

Those left loving her is sister Barbara (Anderson) Mishkin; sister Karen (Robert) Wright; daughter, Linda (Bill) Rupert of Twin Falls, ID; son Steven (Elizabeth) Venable of Santa Rosa, CA; son Gregory (Joyce) Venable of Columbia, MO; Deborah (Ron) Reed of Grass Valley, CA; 9 grandchildren, Brian of Reno, NV; Carlos of Honolulu, HI; Jocelyn (Jason) of Elk Grove, CA; Jake of Camptonville, CA; Erin of Glendale, MO; Kenny of Columbia, MO; Michael (Brittany) of Ballwin, MO;  Randy of Grass Valley, CA; and Matthew of Grass Valley, CA; 10 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren; along with many other family members, cousins and friends.

Dorrene was a lover of animals and always had a canine at her side.  Misty was her faithful companion.

She was a devoted wife, a loving caring mother and grandmother and a true and faithful friend.  Dorrene was a kind, amazing and elegant woman.  She will be missed every day by those who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held at Parkes Magic Valley Funeral Home Twin Falls, ID at 11:00 am December 22, 2017.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Twin Falls Humane Society or the Elks Lodge 2807 Jerome, ID.
