Joan Russell

Joan Russell, age 85, of Boise, Idaho, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on October 21, 2017.  Joan was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on December 7, 1931 to ReEtta and Merle Zacharias.  She lived in Idaho Falls, Gooding, Buhl, Salt Lake and Hansen where she lived with her Aunt Magritte and Uncle Von Nebeker.

She attended Hansen High School until Uncle Von introduced Joan to the farmer boy and love of her life, Tommy. Tom and Joan married February 9th 1949 and they continued to farm with her father-in-law Otis Russell.  In 1951 they rented a farm South of Hansen and farmed there for 21 years. Diana, Terry, Connie and Dave where born and raised on the farm South of Hansen until they grew up and graduated from Hansen High School. Tommy and Joan then moved to Kimberly rural area and farmed between 1971-1992 then retired from farming and moved to the city of Kimberly where they enjoyed Snow Birding to Quartzite and Parker Arizona in the winter.  They loved the Snow Bird lifestyle, meeting new people that they still call friends today. Joan loved crafts, knitting and crocheting so much she owned her own knitting shop.

She is survived by her devoted husband Tommy, daughters Diana of Twin Falls, ID, Terry of Boise, ID, Connie (Jim) of Boise, ID, son, David of Boise, ID and sister Lynn Rae (Lindy) Eldridge of Boise, ID. She is also survived by 5 Grandchildren, Andy, Lacey, Brianna, Cory, Brady and 2 Great Grandchildren Ethan, Mason and One on the Way.

A funeral service will be held at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho on October 31st at 1:00 PM.
