Don't be sad because I am not here with you. I have gone fishing and hunting with my brother and all my friends in a place where there is no sorrow. As you lay me to rest I want you to remember all the good things and happy times we all had together. On September 14, 2017, after 92 beautiful years, I have gone home to be with my heavenly Father, friends, and family. I will stand guard at those beautiful gates and wait for everyone's arrival. So once again we can all be together.
When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, I enlisted in the Navy and spent the war years on two ships, the USS Maryland, and the USS Satterlee. I traveled the world and on D-Day we were the protection for the landing at Omaha Beach. I was a radio man during the time I was on the Satterlee. What a wonderful experience and oh some of the stories I can tell.
After the war I had several different jobs, then settled into the Kennecott Copper Mine in Garfield, Utah where I worked as a crane operator for 36 years. I have had such a wonderful life golfing, hunting, and fishing with family and friends. We all had so much fun hunting the Book Cliffs, fishing at Viva Naughton, and our favorite golfing vacations at Parker, Arizona.
On April 4, 1946 I married Cleo Ekenstam who bore me four wonderful children. We were later divorced. I found the love of my life, Wanda Poulson and we were united in marriage on November 27, 1994. We had such a beautiful life together and she brought to our family three grown children.
Until we are all together once again I leave my wife Wanda Pace, my sons, Robert Pace Jr., David (Liz) Pace, my daughters, Carol Mills, Susan (Dave) Newbold, my step-sons, John (Linda) Hogan and Tom (Gina) Fehlman, my stepdaughter, Shaunna (Dean) Courtright, and my sister Beulah Nichols. I was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. I was preceded in death by my father, Buel Pace, my mother Eleanor Cunningham Pace, my brother, Russel Pace, my ex-wife Cleo Pace, a daughter-in-law Neva Pace, a stepson Larry Finnegan, 5 grandchildren, Tony Sue Duran, Guy Duran, Kirk Newbold, Tina Funderburk, and Brandon Madrid.
So this is not goodbye but see you later in our permanent home that is forever. SEE YOU!!!
