Carl Leroy Smith, passed away July 13, 2017 He was born on May 20, 1935, to Claude and Elsie Smith in Springdale, Arkansas.
In 1936 the family moved to Buhl, Idaho, where both his sisters, Loretta and Linda were born.
He grew up helping his dad on the orchard, farm and dairy.
He met and married the love of his life, Mona Joy Tweet, in October of 1954.
They had 3 children, Lisa, Carl, and Calvin.
Leroy was a hard worker and had many different jobs. He worked at the Fish Hatchery in Buhl. Helped build Brownley and Oxbow Dams in Hells Canyon. He also hauled hay and worked at Shields Seed and Feed.He managed Orr's Orchard and drove truck while mom took care of Mr. Orr. When Mr. Orr passed away they moved to Battle Mountain, Nevada to work at the Duval Copper Mine. After moving to Winnemucca, Nevada, he worked with his son Calvin, setting up Mobile Homes
all over Northern Nevada. They moved back to Jerome, Idaho, to manage a Mobile Home Park there. When his health made it hard to manage the Mobile Home Park, he became an entrepreneur and his own boss selling items at Flea Markets & Gun Shows all over Southern Idaho, Nevada and Oregon. He really enjoyed being his own boss and meeting people, many who became great friends. He is a member of Full Life Family Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mona of 62 years. Both sisters Loretta (Larry) Tackett and Linda (Dan) Black. His children Lisa (Sam) Samuelson from Oakridge OR, Carl (Donette) Smith, and Calvin Smith from Dayton NV.,10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Friends may call on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 5 – 7 P.M. at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Rd., Twin Falls, Idaho. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. The family would like to thank the kind nurses and aids at the many assisted living homes and St. Luke’s Hospital for their tender love and care during his extended illness.
