Heaven welcomed a new angel on May 26, 2017. Sally Lou (Martyn) Molyneux, a loving and devoted wife, mom, sister, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away at her residence in Kimberly, Idaho. She was born October 17, 1934, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Bernard and Florence Martyn. Sally was raised on the family farm, along with her brothers, Bob and Jerry. Her parents were very involved in the First Baptist Church and by watching their Christian example, it was not a surprise that Sally volunteered to be a part of the church groups throughout her life.
She married Marvin Molyneux on November 21, 1951 and a few years later began farming in Picabo, Idaho. It didn't take long for her to fall right into the role of being a farmer's wife. Sally was right there to milk cows, haul hay, plant a garden, cook and take care of their four small children. Living by beautiful Silver Creek, gave the family many opportunities to have picnics, go fishing, and ice skating on ponds. The family attended the First Baptist Church in Hailey, Idaho.
In 1961, the family moved back to Twin Falls to a farm south of town. As a young wife and mother, she started a Sunday school class at the First Baptist Church for men and women close to her age and dedicated 45 years as their teacher. Many life-long friendships developed through the years. Her Christian love shined through as a member of the American Baptist Women (ABW) and local Hispanic Missions. Sally was given a special "Lifetime Member" recognition in 1999, by her church family.
She accepted a position to be the executive director of the Twin Falls Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) in 1961. Sally was responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic planning. Many classes and clubs were organized under her direction and were offered to young women. The Y-kitchen was always busy, thanks to banquets, parties, teas or bridge tournaments. She made sure her three daughters participated with the set-up, serving and cleaning, even if they didn't want to help! It wasn't unusual to read an article in the newspaper about her skill of organizing luncheons and dinners, United Fund drives, fund raisers, food baskets and campaigns, which included the "Y-Drive" for the addition of the swimming pool. For many years, Sally was the Y-Camp director at Cathedral Pines in Ketchum, Idaho. In 1970, she resigned from the YWCA and became employed by the United States Postal Service. She served the people of Kimberly for 25 years.
Sally was an amazing woman who loved to sew clothes for the girls, knit, crochet, cook, garden, work in the fields and help others when needed. Her love of music began when she took piano lessons and practiced on her grandparent's piano, eventually playing string bass, singing in high school and church choirs. She made sure each of her children were exposed to music by learning to play an instrument. Sally enjoyed playing bridge twice a month with friends and doing jigsaw puzzles, especially the past 15 months. Grandma Sally welcomed each grandchild and great-grandchild with open arms of love, encouragement and faith. Her face lit up with a smile every time she saw them.
Sally leaves behind her husband, Marvin, of 65 years; daughters, Carole Molyneux (Ron), West Jordan, UT; Chris Perry (Ellis), Boise, ID; Lois Molyneux, Canby, OR; brother, Gerald Martyn (Daphne), Ukiah, CA; grandchildren, Megan Arrington (Jayson), Derek Molyneux (Kendra), Adam Molyneux (Tessa), Jake Alvord (Angie), and Whitney Brickey (Garrett); 14 great-grandchildren; brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her oldest child, David Molyneux and brother, Robert (Bob) Martyn.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Baptist Church, 910 Shoshone St. East, Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00. A dessert reception will follow the celebration. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Sally Molyneux, may be made to Cathedral Pines Baptist Camp, which held a special place in her heart. The memorial will provide financial assistance for children to attend summer camp. Please make checks payable to "Cathedral Pines Baptist Camp" and mail to HC-64 Box 8296, Ketchum, ID 83340.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Lisa Burgett and St. Luke's Hospice staff for their never ending care and love given to our dear Sally, (wife, mom and grandma). Please sign the guest book at http://www.magicvalleyfuneralhome.com
