Charlie Delmar Knapp

Charlie Delmar Knapp, 88, passed away April 22, 2017 at the Birchwood Estates in Twin Falls, Idaho. He passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.
Charlie was born in New Underwood, South Dakota on September 27, 1928 and raised on the plains of South Dakota. Charlie was the fourth of nine children, born to Darryl Richard and Mary (Byerley) Knapp.
Charlie is survived by his three children: Nina Knapp (Albuquerque), Cherie (Richard) Borah (Twin Falls), and Chuck (Donna) Knapp (Filer). He is survived by siblings Gloria Schaffner (Caldwell), Carl (Jan) Knapp (Ontario), Sam (Fran) Knapp (Clarkston), and Art (Lynn) Knapp (Portland). He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, on January 18, 2017.
Charlie is also survived by grandchildren Kevin (Liz) Copp, Carrie (Jason) Neely, Clinton Knapp, Jason (Shannon) Knapp, Mike (Kelsey) Knapp, Cara (Dennis) Kaler, and Cassie (Brian) Collins. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren: Jocelyn, Brandon, James, Adaleya, Ryder, Tilo, Angelo, Caden, Landon, Camryn, Brennan, Caden K., Coleton, Addy, Delaney and Declan.
In 1946 Charlie’s family moved to Ontario, Oregon. He met Barbara and they married August 31, 1948, and lived in Ontario. Charlie worked at Cable’s Chevrolet in Ontario and approximately 1966 also went to work for FMC Seed Corp. He and Barbara both worked for this company, and were transferred together to Twin Falls in 1969. He retired from this company in 1989.
In 1997 Charlie and Barbara joined the Magic Valley Rock and Gem Club. Charlie enjoyed his lapidary shop where he would spend hours turning rocks into shiny, colorful spheres or shaping stones for bolo ties, belt buckles and jewelry. After retirement, Charlie further discovered his artistic side, learning oil painting, as well as photography.
Visitation for Charlie will be held Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, ID. Services will be held, Monday May 1, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service will also be held in Fruitland, Idaho, Saturday, May 6th at 11:00 A.M. at the Highway Worship Center with a luncheon following.
