Dorothy Mae Shobe 1930 ~ 2017 Dorothy Mae Shobe, age 86, passed peacefully on April 21, 2017 from this life into the loving arms of her eternal Father. She was born May 4, 1930, Idaho the daughter of George Jr. and Wilhelmina “Minnie”(Tripple)Steinmetz and joined her brother Harold on the family farm at Eden. She attended Russell Lane School, graduating from Eden High School in 1948. Dorothy married John H. Shobe at Elko, Nevada on November 22, 1948. Many of their years were spent living the farm and ranch life where together they raised three sons and two daughters. She also worked various jobs including the Oxbow restaurant in Bliss, Ore~Ida, Cactus Pete’s, waitress at the Wednesday Sale Yard, bookkeeper for FHA and clerk at the Stay Well store in Twin Falls. Dorothy was an avid Gardener, raising vegetable gardens with countless hours of canning in the Fall to meet her family’s needs. She enjoyed raising flowers galore – begonias, iris, roses, tulips, daffodils – always beautiful and generously shared with family and friends. Her hands crafted many beautiful quilts for her children, grandchildren and church. She was a member of the LDS church and dearly loved her family, church family and her Savior Jesus Christ. A wife, mother and grandmother, she will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Dorothy is survived by her husband John of 68 years: sons, Monty (Carol); Rex (Amanda); Byron (Anna); daughters, Linda (Dave) and Diana (Doug); 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Harold, Charles and Baby Leo. Visitation for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Rd., Twin Falls. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 AM on April 26, 2017 at the Kimberly LDS Stake Center 3850 N. 3500 E., Kimberly, ID. Donations in Dorothy’s name may be made to the LDS Education Fund c/o Hansen Ward 3728 N. 3700 E., Kimberly, ID 83341. All services and arrangements are under the direction of Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls.
