David Michael Funke
1941 ~ 2017
David Michael Funke went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 4, 2017 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
David was born June 7, 1941 to Bernard and Grace Funke. He was raised in Twin Falls, Idaho and had one sibling, Diane Funke-Thaete.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Hancock for four years. After serving his country, David attended Twin Falls Business College.
He married Zandra Aslett and had two children, Michael Funke and Suzanne Funke.
They later divorced and in 1983 he married Clara Fillmore- Miller.
After 44 years as a furniture salesman, David retired in the Magic Valley.
Dave enjoyed golfing with his golf buddies, enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends. He loved the fun and fellowship with his church family, the” Young at Heart”. He was a people person and never met a stranger. An Amazing Husband, Dad, Grandpa and one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.
David is survived by his wife of 33 years, Clara Funke, sons and daughters, Mike (Tammie) Funke, Suzy (Tony) Collins, Walt (Andrea) Pierce, Linda Asin, Curtis Stockton and Randy Stockton.
Also surviving are 10 grandkids, Caleb Funke, Cassie Hernandez, Colton Funke, Brandon Collins, Porter Collins, Zyler Nutsch, Zaria Nutsch-Smith, Kaeli Moore, Wyatt Stockton, and Dakota Stockton, also two great granddaughters, Akeylah Hernandez and and Mya Larson.
A celebration of David’s life will be held Monday, April 10, 2017 at 11 AM at the Twin Falls Reformed Church 1631 Grandview Drive N. Twin Falls, Idaho.
