On March 3, 2017, the life of Werner Henry Kramer, MD came to an end, as all who knew him would expect, on his terms. Hank was born May 30,1930 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Peter and Molly Kramer, who were part of the Volga German community. He spoke only German until he started school. He joined ROTC at the University of Nebraska, and upon graduation, was commissioned in the Air Force. Before leaving for basic training, he married Marjorie-Ann Ida Deckert on June 9, 1953. One year later, to the day, their first child, was born. Two years after that, again on June 9, their second son was born. Three more children followed, two by birth and one by adoption. After his service, he and Marjorie-Ann moved to Lincoln where he attended medical school and she studied nursing. After an internship in Ogden, Utah, he moved to his first practice in Mountain Home ,Idaho. After a few years, he moved his family to Twin Falls and shared office space with Dr. Luke and Dr. Smith on Addison Avenue. Late in his career, he moved his office to the Lynwood shopping center property. He was an active member of the medical staff at Magic Valley Memorial, but he never escaped the lure of farming. His office was closed for two hours for lunch during the summers so he could irrigate and attend to his farm..During more than 30 years of practice, he delivered hundreds of babies and cared for many people who could not afford care elsewhere. He and Marj raised their five children, only a few blocks from the hospital. Though a contrarian by nature, he was held in deep affection by many of his patients and his office staff. His family remembers him as a man of strong opinions, who always knew how things should work and how any task should be done. He built his own track shoes in high school and later built a camper for his family. He loved hunting and camping with his family. His greatest pleasure was looking out on his fields from the ditch bank. He purchased his last John Deere in 2016. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie-Ann, Sister Marie Boellstorff of College Station, Texas, brother Arnold of Wallace, Nebraska, and sister, Wilma Nelson of Downer’s Grove, Illinois. Sons: Mark (Halina), Monte (Dawna) and Lynn (Tracey) and daughter Holly Toomians (Alek), ten grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Norman and his daughter, Tiara. Thanks to the staff of the Curry Café and the Depot Grill who were so kind to him over the years. Memorials: Dr. Kramer was not a believer in giving away money. He would prefer you keep it and pass it on to the next generation.
