Ricky David Syme, “Ricky”, age 53 passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 with his loving family at his bedside.

Ricky was born in Battle Mountain, Nevada on September 20, 1963 to Marvin and Beverly Syme.  Ricky was the youngest of their four children. He attended school in Battle Mountain and later graduated high school in 1981.

After school, Ricky worked for MI Drilling where he learned to run heavy equipment. He used that experience to get a job at Echo Bay Minerals where he was in Process Maintenance and Mill Maintenance. He was an excellent welder and heavy equipment operator and a dedicated employee for 16 years.

Ricky’s love for the outdoors started as a child always going hunting with his dad and brother, whether it was birds, deer or elk.  He loved fishing; his passion for fishing came from watching his dad tie flies.  Ricky was always willing to help friends on their hunts or take them fishing on his boat. He also loved to be out camping and driving in the hills “exploring”!

Ricky was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Reid Syme.

He is survived by his mother, Beverly Syme of Filer, Idaho; his daughter, Tristan Renee Syme of Ely, Nevada; grandson Wesston Syme of Ely, Nevada; sisters, Sallie Snapp of Twin Falls, Idaho; and Cheryl (Chris) McAviney of Battle Mountain, Nevada;  brother Terry Syme of Battle Mountain, Nevada; nieces, Jordan Snapp (Jake Mitchell) of Filer, Idaho and Jamie Snapp of Twin Falls, Idaho, Britney (Johnny) Cain of Battle Mountain, Nevada; nephew, Jerad Smith of Battle Mountain, Nevada, along with great-nieces, Lilly Snapp of Twin Falls, Idaho and Emma Cain of Battle Mountain, Nevada.

Graveside services for Ricky will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Battle Mountain Cemetery in Battle Mountain, Nevada.
