Melissa Michelle Grayson

Melissa Michelle Grayson, age 37 passed away at her home in Boise, Idaho on January 22, 2017 from natural causes.

Melissa was born on December 26, 1979 in Twin Falls, Idaho.  At the age of 4, Melissa was adopted by Mike and Christy Grayson, where she joined and older brother, Matthew and moved to the Lewiston area.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and getting outdoors and going camping.

Melissa moved to Eagle, Idaho in 1994 at the age of 15 where she resided and worked with Tomorrow’s Hope and their team.  She graduated from Eagle High School in June 1998.  While she was in school, she also had the opportunity to work at McDonald’s.

Melissa moved to the Coeur d’ Alene area in 1999 in order to be closer to her family.  At that time, she worked with SL Start and their team. 

In 2002, Melissa moved to the Boise area and continued to work with SL Start and their teams until the time of her death.  Melissa had a zest for life.  She loved animals and enjoyed participating with the equestrian program through Special Olympics and volunteering at Simply Cats.  When she was able to adopt her cat, Eden, it was a joyous day for her.  She loved her and cared for her deeply.  Melissa loved summer and the opportunity to be out in the sun and particularly in the swimming pool and just relaxing.  She loved the holidays and could not wait to decorate.  She always had her home ready to go from one holiday to the other at least a month in advance.  Most people would remember Melissa by her sense of humor and true thoughtfulness she had for the people in her life. Her greatest passion was doing arts and craft projects and would always be working on making drawings that were incredibly unique. Being creative was not only her opportunity to be creative and relax but was her way of giving to others and showing them that she truly cared for them.  Melissa worked for Inclusions, Inc. for 5 years helping out in their office doing a variety of tasks.  She enjoyed her work and the people that she was able to meet and work with.

Melissa is survived by her parents Pierre and Christy Duplantie of Lewiston, Mike and Kim Grayson of Spokane, WA, her brother Matthew Grayson and her cat Eden.   She leaves many close friends in the Boise area and with SL Start who loved and cared about her.  A special thank you goes to Bill Benkula, who was a steady influence in her life and gave her the support and direction that she sometimes needed.

Services will be held at Cremation Society of Idaho, 5541 W. Overland Rd. Boise, Idaho on February 8th, 2017 at 2:00 pm.
