Barbara J. Knapp

June 23, 1929 - January 18, 2017

Barbara J. Knapp, 87, was born in Elwood, Nebraska June 23, 1929. Barbara was the second of eleven children born to Wilmer Doane and Georgetta Grace(Lockhart) Rhinehart. 

Growing up in a large rural family gave Barbara a strong work ethic and love of family that lasted throughout her life.

In 1936 her family moved to Payette, Idaho. Barbara attended school in Payette and graduated in 1948. She had met Charlie Knapp and they married August 31, 1948 and lived in Ontario. 

In 1953 Barbara went to work for FMC Seed Division. Barbara and Charlie both eventually worked for this company and were transferred to Twin Falls, Idaho in 1969. Barbara worked for FMC for 37 years.

Together Barbara and Charlie raised three children; Nina, Cherie and Chuck.

Barbara and Charlie enjoyed living near their large families and had many huge Christmas parties, picnics and family reunions.

They enjoyed exploring Southern Idaho, finding new fishing, hunting and water skiing areas.
There were many camping trips together with the grandchildren.
Charlie and Barbara took many vacations with  their best friends Bill and Virginia Nylander from Canada to Quartzite and everywhere in between.

In 1997 Barbara and Charlie joined the Magic Valley Rock and Gem Club.
They went for weekend expeditions with their club in search of special rocks and gems.
They both have made beautiful jewelry, belt buckles and Bolo ties.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Charlie Knapp, Children, Nina Knapp of Albuquerque, Cherie (Richard) Borah of Twin Falls and Chuck (Donna) Knapp of Filer. Siblings, Dale Rhinehart, Alyce (John) Main, Nadine Russel, Eugene (Marilyn) Rhinehart Rojene Rhinehart, Dorothy Rhinehart.
She has grandchildren: Kevin (Liz) Copp, Carrie (Jason) Neely, Clinton Knapp, Jason (Shannon) Knapp, Mike (Kelsey) Knapp, Cara (Dennis) Kaler and Cassie (Brian) Collins.
Barbara is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren; Jocelyn, Brandon, James, Ryder, Tilo, Angelo, Caden , Landon, Camryn, Brennan, Caden K., Coleton, Addy, Delaney and Declyn.

Preceded in death By Parents, Wilmer & Georgetta Rhinehart, Bob Rhinehart, Juanita Hall, Ed Rhinhart, John Rhinehart,Chuck Rhinehart.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home located at 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho
