Joyce Ruben Dickard
1924 ~ 2017
Our sweet grandpa Joyce (JR) Dickard passed away last night, January 9, 2017 at the age of 92. His life was full and although he faced challenges of macular degeneration for the past several years he kept his sense of humor (sometimes slightly inappropriate lol) to the very end and loved his wife of 73 years and all of his family dearly. We will miss him fiercely but know that he walks free of burdens now. His memory will live on forever as we all shared so many wonderful experiences with him, even his great grandchildren were fortunate enough to know him well.
JR was born May 5, 1924 in Filer, Idaho, the son of William Dee and Marjorie (Armer) Dickard. He grew up and attended schools in Filer. At a young age, he took up his life's passion of farming and it showed in his care of the land.
On April 30, 1943, he married his sweetheart, Hallie Colene (Presnell) Dickard in the First Christian Church in Twin Falls, Idaho and together they raised two sons, Jerry and Gary. The young family farmed South of Twin Falls on the Kimberly Tract.
JR was a member of the Mountain Rock Grange and First Christian Church. When not hard at work, he enjoyed hunting, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, spending time with his family and any activity that had to do with the grandkids.
He also loved volunteering at Rising Stars Therapeutic Riding Center and it held a very special place in his heart, long after he was truly able.
He was preceded in death by his father, William in 1969, his mother, Marjorie in 1983, his brother, Troy in 2008 and one grandchild.
JR is survived by his loving wife, Hallie of Twin Falls; sons, Jerry (Chris) Dickard and Gary(Gerrie) Dickard, both of Kimberly, ID. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, ID. Funeral Services will be held Friday.
