Grace LaRee Munsee, 87, passed away peacefully on Novemer 28, 2016. She was born in Archer Idaho to Grace Squires Grover and William Grover on May 19th, 1929. LaRee was one of five children, three older brothers (Delore, Glen and Wallace) and one younger sister (Shirley).
LaRee attended schools in the Rexburg, Idaho area. Growing up on a farm, she learned to work hard early on by working in the fields and taking care of the farm animals. After graduating from high school she worked for the Idaho State Employment office. One day at work her brother Delore brought in his friend, Keith Munsee, to meet her. They began dating and were married in February of 1948.
LaRee and Keith moved to Hazelton, Idaho in May of 1949 where they homesteaded a 100 acre farm that they drew through the GI Bill. It was a hard life as they began clearing sagebrush, dealing with rattle snakes, gophers, intense winters and hot dry summers – all with little money and few resources. Eventually they were able to raise cattle, sheep and beautiful crops. They expanded and the desert bloomed through their hard work having started with nothing.
They were blessed with six children; Sandra LaRee who died at birth, Michael, Grace Marie who died at birth, Christine, Susie and Mark. The years raising their family were some of the most enjoyable times in their life. They enjoyed their trips to Montana, Utah and Wyoming to buy livestock, as well New Zealand, Hawaii and Australia.
LaRee was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, baking, traveling and spending time with her family and dear friends. Keith and LaRee were sealed in the Boise LDS Temple in 1995.
After 53 years of marriage, LaRee faced her biggest challenge when Keith passed away on March 18, 2001. The following years were very lonely and the more recent years have been filled with serious health issues. She wished for the time that she could go home to be with Keith and her Heavenly Father.
LaRee is survived by her four children and their spouses, eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, her sister Shirley Radford of Rigby and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Her family wishes to express gratitude to neighbors, friends, and caregivers who offered much love and service to her for so many years.
