Michael Gines

Michael Lynn Gines, age 58, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at his home in Filer, Idaho, after battling cancer for 1 ½ years. 

Mike was born on September 2, 1958, in Jerome, Idaho the 7th of ten children to Richard and Gene Gines.  The family moved to Hollister, Idaho where he grew up and attended Hollister Elementary, then to Filer Junior and Senior High School, where he graduated in 1976.  Mike then attended the College of Southern Idaho.

Mike met the love of his life Laura “Lori” Miller while attending Filer High School.  Mike and Lori were married on June 23, 1979.  They were blessed with three children; Brandy, Megan and Justin.

During their marriage, Mike worked for Amalgamated Sugar Company for 37 plus years, providing for his family and making many friendships.

Mike was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, Hayli and Brayden Wooten, Kaelie and Kierra Ulibarri, Journey Blake and River Roberts.

During his battle with cancer he always had a smile and made the best of it.

Mike leaves behind his love Laura “Lori” Gines; three children; Brandy Gines, Megan Gines (Eric Roberts), and Justin Gines; six grandchildren; one sister Nancy Paetzold; seven brothers; Hal, Barry, Brent, Bruce, Kurt, Bryce and David Gines.

He was preceded in death by his sister Carol Gines, and his parents Richard and Gene Gines.

Friends may call at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home on Monday evening November 21, 2016 from 6 – 8 P.M. for a visitation.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
