Mary Elizabeth Washburn Roice

Mary Elizabeth Washburn Roice passed away peacefully in Pocatello, Idaho on September 19, 2016.  Mary was born in Jerome, Idaho on September 16, 1922, to Lon and Helen (Eakin) Washburn.  She was raised on farms in the Jerome and Wendell area and graduated from High School in Jerome, Idaho. 

Mary was married to Dick Roice on December 8, 1940, who predeceased her on August 29, 1992.   Mary loved to sew, making nearly all her daughters' clothes as well as her own.  Later, she began making quilts and had completed over 25 full sized quilts and hundreds of infant blankets which she donated to hospitals and needy mothers.

From 1960 until 1972, Mary and her husband operated the Dietrich Merc, selling groceries and gas and running the local post office.   In 1973, Mary and her husband moved to Glenns Ferry where she worked for the school hot lunch program for several years.  After her husband retired they moved to Hazelton, Idaho.

Mary is survived by her children: Nancy Wheeler (Roger) of Pocatello, ID, Donna Gangemi (Don) of Chico CA, Tom Roice (Judy) of Reno NV and daughter-in-law Linda Roice of Nampa  ID; twelve Grandchildren and fourteen Great-Grandchildren.  Mary was preceded in death by son Pat Roice in 1976, husband Dick Roice in 1992 and son Jim Roice in 2016.

Graveside services will be held at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Twin Falls, Idaho on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 11:00 A.M.

All services and arrangements are under the direction of the Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls, Idaho.
