Helen Russell Webster passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at her home in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was born October 9, 1931 in Jewell County, KS, on her grandparents’ homestead, which was also where her father was born, and she shared her October 9th birthday with her mother. She was raised in Cloud County Kansas, but spent her entire adult life in Idaho in the Magic Valley.
Helen was baptized as a teenager and believed in the redeeming Grace of Jesus Christ. She attended the Baptist Church, where she was active in Sunday School and women’s activities.
Helen was blessed to have been married to her best friend James Webster for 50+ years. Together they raised 5 children.
Helen was an avid volunteer serving in three elementary schools, three Senior Citizens Centers, the Buzz Langdon Visitor Center, Faith Harbor, and was a foster grandmother for twelve years. She loved to read and usually completed 2 to 3 books each month. Her hands were busy with her needle work, having crocheted over 300 afghans and donating them to charities in the valley. Each of her family members has received one of her handmade quilts or afghans.
Helen was predeceased by her parents Lorenzo and Minnie Russell; brothers, Caspel, Benson and Ivan Russell; sisters, Eva Edwards and Elda Elniff; her husband James; her sons, Allen and Joe. She is survived by her children Robert and Shari Webster; Cheryl and Keith Strolberg; and David Webster; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her forever friend Linda Swanson; brother Louis (Lois) Russell; sisters Vira Amende; Eulala Wright; & Ferma Webster.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Thursday, August 4th at 10:00 a.m. A viewing will be at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home before the service from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Interfaith Volunteers, 459 Locust St. N., Twin Falls, ID 83301.
