"The world's most amazing generation," lost another member on July 8th, 2016. Wendell Eller led a life that most of us can only imagine. Wendell Eller was born on December 8th, 2017 in Taurin, KS. In 1933 Wendell, his parents, and 7 siblings made the journey west to Twin Falls. The boys had to sleep in the ditch banks on the side of the roads at nights, while his parents and sister slept in the car, 1941 was a major year for Wendell. He married Doris Perkins. To this marriage there were 5 children. Wendell "Bing" Eller (Mary), Marion Edgar (Mark), Roxanne Eller, Dale Sorenson and Jerry Sorenson (Gail). Even though they later divorced, the love of his children and time spent with family remained. In 1941 Wendell also joined the US Army. Wendell was on leave celebrating his birthday when Pearl Harbor was attacked and had to rush back and prepare for WWII. In the Army Wendell was in communications and spent time in Italy, Germany and Africa, with some of this time under the command of General Patton. Despite only an 8th grade education, Wendell was able to open an electronics repair shop, thanks to his training in the Army. This was the start of Television and Wendell spent time on mountains and houses', setting up antenna's to bring many of his customers the first TV into their home. Wendell had a passion for cars. Whether it was in Pocatello, Makay or Sisters, Or. Wendell was always buying, fixing up, and racing his next project. He never kept a car for long, and was always on the look for the one he could make better, faster, nicer. In 1987 Wendell came back to Twin Falls, to be closer to his family. He became a fixture at his son Dale's car lot, DGS Motors. Wendell could be found in the same chair for the next 20 years, telling stories, some of them the same one over and over, sleeping, watching TV or talking to friends and customers. Wendell didn't know a stranger and made friends easily, He spent his mornings at the Frosty Mug having coffee and conversation. Most lunches were at the Arctic Circle with Shawn Brennan and he loved to go to Jackpot with Joe Reyes. The last 6 years of his life, Wendell lived at Bridgeview Estates. He loved playing Bingo and interacting with the staff and residents. To his final day Wendell loved his family and was always found bragging and talking about them. Some of his last words were "I Love You" to a family member. We all love you to and you will be missed by all. Wendell is survived by 4 of his children, multiple grand and great children. He left a legacy that will not be forgotten. A graveside memorial will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Hansen. Family would like to thank the staff at Bridgeview for Wendell's care and the friendship they provided him. And also thank Mike Parke and Parke's Funeral home for their professionalism and kindness.
