Major Kenneth Dean Thaete U.S. Air Force, Retired, Longtime resident of Twin Falls, had his final flight on June 14, 2016. Kenneth was born on June 4, 1939 in Twin Falls.
Ken was a decorated U.S. Air Force fighter pilot who flew over 189 combat sorties over North Vietnam. During his 20 years of service, he received a Silver Star, 4 Distinguished Flying Crosses, 2 Purple Hearts, and 19 Air Medals. He trained at Luke AFB, AZ. and was awarded Top Gun and outstanding student in his Class. He was a distinguished Top Gun- Wild Weasel pilot, flying F-100, F-105D, F-105G and F-4G Jet aircraft. In the most recent years Ken has enjoyed farming, snowmobiling, adventuring in his RZR, spending time with his family and friends, traveling throughout the western states with his wife, Aysa.
Ken had a strong faith in God and enjoyed attending Sunday Service. He enjoyed singing the hymns and could always be heard above the congregation.
He is survived by his current wife, Aysa Thaete, his siblings, Shirley Schutte, Bonnie Gillespie, Gary Dohse, his Three children Brian, Steven, and Geraldine Thaete. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Diane Thaete.
A Memorial service will be 11AM Friday, July 29, 2016 at Clover Trinity Lutheran Church, 3552N. 1825E. Buhl, Idaho. The family requests memorial in Ken’s name to Clover Trinity Lutheran Church and Clover Lutheran School 3552 N 1825 S. Buhl, ID 83316. Arrangements are under the caring direction of Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls.
