DONNA CHRISTINE LANTING

Donna Lanting, age 86, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away at the Twin Falls Care Center on April 5, 2016 of complications from an infection.

Donna was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on August 12, 1926 to Lyle and Bertie Schnitker. She was the middle child of three girls. She graduated from Hollister High School and later attended the University of Idaho and Twin Falls Business College.

She married her high school sweetheart C.M. (Cornie) Lanting in Elko, Nevada on March 24, 1949, and they recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.

She worked at Bean Growers, Newberry’s, Magic Valley Memorial Hospital, and Kirkman and Fleenor Bus Companies.  She also cooked hot lunch at the Hollister and Filer Schools and helped Cornie on the farm. She was very proud of her 34 years as a school bus driver, and her 14 years serving kids hot lunch. She served on the county election board for decades, most of it as a senior judge. She was an avid CSI fan. No matter the sport, she was there for both home and away games. Donna and Cornie even traveled to the Junior College National Championships in Salina and Hutchinson, Kansas on many occasions. She also made caramel popcorn balls that were sold at the concession stand that supported CSI athletics for over a decade. She was a CSI Booster Parent, and she and Cornie hosted 14 different athletes over the years from Idaho, other states and countries.  Donna and Cornie enjoyed keeping in touch with the athletes after they completed their time at CSI.  She was also a member of the CSI Booster Club.

Donna was a great cook and was known for her deviled eggs, oyster stew, and dinner rolls. Her hands were seldom idle working on crafts and sewing daily. She also created greeting cards for loved ones on her computer. In addition, she enjoyed traveling, golfing, bowling, playing cards, the Twin Falls County Fair, and family gatherings.
