LaRae Hatch Wright, age 82, of Kimberly Idaho, passed away in Twin Falls, Idaho on 15 February 2016 surrounded by loving family members. LaRae was born in Pocatello, Idaho on 12 February 1934, the first of four children born to John Ansel and Neola Marie York Hatch. She grew up in the Bancroft, ID; Logan, UT and Drummond, MT areas where she graduated from high school. She attended Brigham Young University graduating in 1958 with a degree in Business Education. She taught high school in Browning, MT. LaRae was an excellent fast typist, played the piano and organ and had a beautiful singing voice. She met her sweetheart James Louis Wright (who had just returned from a church mission) at a church dance in Great Falls, MT. They were married on 6 June 1958 in the Salt Lake City, UT Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They spent a short time at Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX while James served in the U.S. Army. They then moved to Logan, UT and to Ithaca, NY while James attended graduate school. During this time she worked as a secretary, typed theses and term papers to help support a growing family for which she earned her PHT (Putting Hubby Through). After a short time in Twin Falls, ID the family moved to Kimberly, ID in 1966 to a home, which she considered to be her dream home, where she has since resided.
LaRae was an excellent cook and seamstress and sewed many of her children’s clothes and helped them with 4-H projects. She canned a lot of fruits and vegetables, putting up as many as 100 quarts of pickles a year. In later years she spent many enjoyable hours with friends quilting and doing ceramics.
LaRae was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings including Ward Organist, Young Women’s leader, Librarian, Relief Society President and served several years in the church Family History program entering information into the database. She had strong faith and an abiding testimony of Jesus Christ.
LaRae was predeceased by her parents and a beautiful daughter Brenda and granddaughter Erica. She is survived by a sister Jennie Ostler and two brothers, Carl and John “Jack” (Joyce) Hatch of Montana. LaRae is survived by the love of her life, her husband James Louis Wright six of their children and 14 grandchildren: Betty and Bruce McEntire (Bradley, Blake and Brent) of St. George, UT; Bonnie Wright and Howard Minster (Jessica and Nathan Wewers) of Folsom, CA; Janette and Darrell Jack (Abigail, Samuel, Elliott and Lohmen) of Jackpot NV and Hollister, ID; Sharon and Dave Weeks (Victoria, Alexis, Delaney and Madeline) of St. George, UT; Joanna Lea and Jeff Henry (Sadie) of Marysville, WA and Dr. Steven James Wright of Davis, CA, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
The funeral for LaRae will be held on Saturday, 20 February 2016 at 10 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 723 Hankins Rd. N., Twin Falls, with Bishop Monte Williams conducting. A Viewing for family and friends will be held Friday, 19 February from 6 to 8 pm at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls and from 9 to 9:50 A.M. at the church on Saturday before the funeral. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls after the funeral. Services are under the direction of Parke’s.
LaRae’s family would like to express appreciation to the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and Caregivers at St. Luke’s MVMH and Bridgeview Estates with a special thanks to Dr. Cheri Wiggins for her kind and devoted attention to LaRae and support to each of our family members. The kindness of many friends, Ward members and neighbors is greatly appreciated.
