Eleanor Bower of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away surrounded by loved ones on December 25, 2015, at the age of 88. Eleanor was born April 24th, 1927 in Elora, Ontario, Canada, first child of Herbert and Edna Cook.
She attended nursing school in Guelph, Ontario and later moved to Toronto Sunnybrook Hospital to pursue her career as a nurse. There she met her future husband, Dr. Robert R Bower (Bob), who was completing his medical internship. Together they moved to Pembroke, in northern Ontario, to set up a medical practice and begin their family. They had three daughters and later the family first moved to Connecticut and then to San Diego, California. While in Connecticut Eleanor achieved her ambition to finish her university degree and after the family moved to San Diego she completed her Master's degree in Public Health. Upon retirement Eleanor and Bob moved their home base to Idaho to live closer to their grandchildren and continued their extensive travels. Being with their grandchildren and traveling were two main interests, which they would often combine. Bob predeceased Eleanor in 2002 and she was happy to rejoin her life partner.
She leaves behind to celebrate her love and her life, her brother George (Joyce) Cook and their family and her three daughters, Jeanie (Tony) Mayer, Dorothy Bower and Judy (David) Powell. She will be sorely missed by her eight grandchildren; Jacob (and his wife Laura) Lemmon, Guy Lemmon, Ben Dachis (fiancé Sam), Alex Dachis (fiancé Jessica), Veronica and Brock Powell and Victoria and Al Mayer. Eleanor was recently blessed with a beautiful great granddaughter, Genevieve Lemmon. All were so lucky to have Eleanor as a sister, mother and grandmother and she will be sorely missed. She also leaves behind friends and other family from over the decades and across many miles, which despite the miles and the passage of time remained her friends for life.
Her family would like to express their appreciation to the kind staff at Heritage Assisted Living. They would like to especially thank for their loving care, Katie, Seth (aka Charlie), Alex, Amanda, Kristen, Dee Alyssa, and Dada. Special thanks also to Amy, Vicky and Steve from Hospice Visions and Merrick Reynolds, PA. A memorial service will be held at Community of Christ Church in Buhl, Idaho at 11:00AM, Sat. Feb 13th. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Eleanor's name to OutreachInternational.org.
