John Barrickman Butz

John B. Butz 1945 ~ 2016   John B. Butz, age 70 of Filer, Idaho passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 at his home in Filer with his family by his side.John was born December 24, 1945 in Rock Falls, Illinois the son of John and June (Robinson) Butz.  Upon graduating from High School, John enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He served as a medic and a pharmaceutical tech during his service.  After being honorably discharged, John received a degree as a Doctor of Pharmacy, at the University of the Pacific and went to work as a Registered Pharmacist. In 1972, John married Ellenore Reichert and together they raised two sons, David and John. When not working John loved racing, cars and was a true Green Bay Packers fan. He was also a long-standing member of the Grace Baptist Church. Surviving John is his loving wife of 43 years, Ellie of Filer, Idaho; children, David (Mabel) Shurtleff and John (Rhonda) Butz; one brother, Robinson (Jane) Butz, six nephews and one niece; two grandchildren, Tyler and Reid; one sister-in-law, Gail and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathy and Art. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and June and by his brother Steve. Funeral services for John will be held Friday, January 29, 2016 at 11 AM at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Rd., Twin Falls, ID; Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Interment following services at the Filer Cemetery in Filer, Idaho. The family requests that memorials in John’s name be donated to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Hospice 601 Poleline Road, Twin Falls, Idaho, MSTI (Mountain States Tumor Institute 725 Poleline Road W. Twin Falls, ID or the Grace Baptist Church 798 Eastland Drive N. Twin Falls, ID.  Donations may be mailed or given to the staff at the funeral home. All services and arrangements are under the direction of Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls.
