Art Koenig of Buhl passed away Sunday, January 10, 2015 in Twin Falls, Idaho at the age of 82.
Art was born on July 14, 1933 in Twin Falls to Edith and Harold Koenig.
Art was fortunate to have the love of three beautiful women during his lifetime. Marian Pettygrove,
who gave him 3 children, Karen (Glen) of Twin Falls, Bud (Jan) of Richmond, KY and Becky
(Mike) of Meridian. Barbara McGiboney who shared her 5 children Debra of Boise, Dennis
(Megan) of Reno, Patrick (Phyllis) of Phoenix, Kelly (Mike) of Elko, Kimberly of Elko. Joyce
Shawver who shared his last years and her three children, Maria (Duane) of Filer, Lisa (Bryan) of
Hansen and Shane (Tonya) of Buhl. He loved all his kids and the 16 grandkids and 21 great
grandkids they gave him.
Art worked as a public servant in various capacities during his career; he was a soldier in the US
Army and later a deputy in the Idaho State Marshall's Office. He farmed in Hansen during the 50's
and was a professional truck driver during the 60's. He also enjoyed the real estate business and
he even dealt craps and cards in Jackpot!
Most recently Art was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Buhl. He valued the
fellowship/friendship he developed there. He has spent years studying and teaching the Bible; he
particularly enjoyed the book of Revelation.
Art loved his animals in the early years it was horses and farm animals. Next came horse shows
and trail rides gallore. Of course there was never a time he was without a dog, from poodles to
shepherds, but only one Marty, his beloved retriever. After retirement Art enjoyed the craft of
carving. He loved to carve gun stocks, buffalo shoulder blades, glass and just about anything else
he could get his hands on. Many family and friends have been blessed by a piece of his artwork.
Art was preceeded in death by his parents Edith and Harold Koenig, his sister Marie McGuire and
his wife Barbara.
