Blaine Mahlon Boley, Jr.

October 17, 1931 — October 29, 2015

Blaine Mahlon Boley was born in Twin Falls Idaho on October 17, 1931 and he passed away in Twin Falls on October 29, 2015. He was a man of intelligence, strength, courage, honor, and generosity and will be remembered fondly by all that knew him. His sharp wit and gracious, unassuming nature was quick to put one at ease. Always one to share a bit of history through well told stories that more often than not ended with a chuckle; his stories not only told of the fabric of Murtaugh and southern Idaho, but also the trials of pioneers that crossed the region on the Oregon Trail. His vast wealth of knowledge of this history and the family stories will be greatly missed. The son of Blaine and Fern Love Boley, Blaine grew up on a farm on Murtaugh Lake and attended school in Murtaugh. After graduating from Murtaugh High School he joined the Navy where he served his country with honor remaining a patriot throughout his life. Work ethic was vitally important to Blaine, as he worked his entire life as a business owner and cable tool driller, learning the trade from his father and passing it down to his son. The majority of his work was done in Idaho with his business partner, neighbor, and friend Fred Henry. He also spent time drilling in Wyoming, Nevada, and Montana and even in Hawaii where he worked side by side with Russ and Kaleb. Blaine was past president of the Idaho Water Well Association, and a former member of the Lions Club. Blaine's hobbies included taxidermy and lapidary. He was a rock hound, a football fan, enjoyed discussing politics, and was a voracious reader. Although he loved all things historical, his love of the written word was not confined to history, as he contemplated poetry as well, especially that of Robert Service. He had enjoyed hunting and fishing and instilled an appreciation of nature and the outdoors in both his son and daughter. Blaine is survived by his son Russell of Murtaugh, grandsons Jared (Jennifer) of Rupert and Kaleb (Emalia Grube) of Hazelton, great grandchildren Kayla and Zirick, brother Stanley of Willow Alaska, nieces Kate Osborne, Challis,ID, Marjorie Gardner (Bill) of Kalispell, MT,Gina Sorensen (Bob) of Helena, MT and Liz Marvin (Zeno) of Hermiston, OR as well as numerous great nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friend, Sally Hoeck. Blaine was preceded in death by his parents, Blaine Boley Sr. and Fern Love Boley, daughter Janice Boley and sister Colleen Osborne. Viewing will be at 11:00 AM on Monday 11/02/2015 at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home. As was his wish, there will be a graveside service which will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday 11/02/2015 at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls.
