Bonita Lynne Schafer

April 27, 1950 — October 7, 2015

Bonita Lynn Shewmaker Schafer April 27, 1950 - October 7, 2015 Bonita finally made her way to peace and the comfort of her Lord and Savior on October 7, 2015. She was born to Keith Orin and Orletta Marie Shewmaker on April 27, 1950, the youngest of five. They lived in Shoshone on a small ranch, with her working close at her father's side for the years spent there. Later her family would move to Jerome where they would become part of a corporation of the Shewmaker Bros. Cattle Company. She worked on the ranch with her dad and family for several years. While going to school she became active showing cattle in both 4-H and FFA, where she earned several awards and achievements. Later in life she would move several times and have several careers. She was most proud of her equine business Desert Reins, where she was first in the State of Idaho to give horseback riding lessons to special needs children. She was also proud of her Realtors licence and Real Estate business she had while in California. She was full of toughness and tenacity her entire life. She was proud of doing things her way and without help, sometimes much to others dismay. She was bound and determined to live life her way regardless of the cost. Her laugh was infectious. She had a fondness for good horses, good dogs and good pick-ups. Breakfast was coke and jerky when on the road. She was a hell of a horseman, worked just as hard and cussed just as much as a lot of men she loved to work beside. A day with good weather and cattle out in front of her on an all day push to move cattle on the desert was her best day spent on earth. She is survived by her children, Holly(McClain) Tucker and Kari (Schafer) Jamisin, Brad and Kevin Schafer and Nikki (Schafer) Fortuin. Also surviving her are her sisters; Karen (Shewmaker) Hyde and Echo (Shewmaker) Stulhburg, brothers; Roger and Phillip Shewmaker, and her three grandchildren, Danielle Marie Tucker, Torrey Tucker, and Remy Fortuin. Each one of these people had their own unique relationship with her. Each learned and appreciated different things from her. She will be missed in different ways by each person's lives she touched. There will be a get-together/celebration of good times and stories told at Buster's Hwy 93, Hollister on October 17, 2015 at 1:30 P.M. A no host bar and food menu will be available for purchase if you choose.
