March 3, 1921 — August 24, 2015

Elizabeth Marie Hove Pietz 1921-2015 Elizabeth Marie Hove Pietz, 94 of Twin Falls passed away peacefully August 24, 2015 at Hospice Visions Hospice House in Jerome, Idaho. Elizabeth was born March 3, 1921 in Sacred Heart, Minnesota to Father Nels T. Hove, born in Valdres, Norway and Mother Emma Wefsenmoe Hove of Chippewa County, MN. She graduated from McIntosh MN High School 1937 and then graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing 1943. Elizabeth met Russell Blaine Pietz (born Vesta MN) as they attended the same rural high school, became sweethearts, and were married June 21, 1947 in Minneapolis MN. Their classmates said it would never last, but they celebrated 67 wedding anniversaries! The Navy called Russell and they moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where Elizabeth not only raised 3 sons, she also worked as a Registered Nurse. In 1960, the Navy transferred Russell from the East Coast to the West Coast, and Elizabeth moved the family (3 sons) to Idaho to be near relatives. They camped their way across the United States, and she learned that even bears enjoyed her blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Camping continued to be a family pastime, and she particularly enjoyed Smoky Bear Campground and Luther Heights at Alturas Lake. After moving to Idaho, she continued working as an RN at Magic Valley Memorial Hospital, specializing in Obstetrics. Many a "preemie" found love and a new life through Elizabeth. She was an active volunteer nurse with the Red Cross. She continued nursing and found a new career in Optometry. Elizabeth was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, and helped all three of her sons become Eagle Scouts. Active in Our Savior Lutheran Church, Twin Falls, for over 60 years, she served as a historian and stalwart role model. She was also a regular at Bible Study and Hearts and Hands. Predeceased by husband Russell in 2015, and brothers Harold, Maurice, Thomas, Arthur, and Bud Hove. She is survived by: Son Randy (Bobbi) Pietz; Son Larry Pietz, Son: Steven (Shari) Pietz Grandchildren Chris Pietz and Heather Barker, and 3 great-grandchildren Sister-in-Law: Cordelle Bear, Windsor, Ontario, Canada Memorial Services for Elizabeth will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 464 Carriage Ln N, Twin Falls, Idaho, on September 5, 2015 at 11 am.
