Marian Carlson, peacefully slipped the bonds of Earth Sunday, August 23, after 90 wonderful years of life. Marian was born the fourth child to Dee and Atlanta Strawser, and grew up on various farms in the Magic Valley. She attended grade school at the Deep Creek school west of Buhl, and high school in Eden where she played on the girls basketball team. She graduated from high school in 1943, and attended nursing school in Boise at St. Alphonsus hospital. After a year at Boise, Marian chose the path her heart led her on and married John B. Carlson August 14, 1944 in Buhl. Together they farmed a place south of Buhl and began a family. To augment their income, Marian began work at the Farmers National Bank in Buhl. In 1959 the family moved to Twin Falls, where Marian initially found work at First Security Bank in downtown Twin Falls. Two years later Marian was offered a job as bookkeeper for the new Pennywise Drug store in the Lynwood. Here Marian would stay and work for the next 25 years until the store closed in 1986. Of all the things Marian enjoyed, her husband and family were at the top of her list. The family enjoyed drives, picnics in the mountains or at home on the patio. Marian's special times were spent quilting, reading, and visiting with extended family. Marian enjoyed her later years with family and friends, good books, and her favorite TV shows. Marian was preceded in death by her husband John in 1981. She is survived by her three children, Kelly (Michelle), Christine, and Dan all of Twin Falls. In addition she is survived by 13 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. A grave side service will be held Thursday at 10 A.M. at Sunset Memorial Park, under the direction of Parke's Funeral Home. The family suggests in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the charity of your choice. Those who wish may share memories and condolences on her memorial page at www.magicvalleyfuneralhome.com
