Kevin Bowen Nelson of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away at his parents' home on August 17th from cancer. Kevin was born on July 1, 1954 to Bill and Lee Nelson. He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1972 and pursued his collegiate career at College of Southern Idaho and moved on to Boise State University to participate in their baseball programs. In 1973, he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants, first round, and the New York Yankees, fourth round. Kevin's love and talent for baseball was evident at an early age, starting in Pee-Wee league and he continued to play throughout his life reaching a professional level. He worked with Randy Pooler in concrete, roofing and golf course maintenance in Phoenix, Arizona and later returned to the Twin Falls area where he continued working in construction. In the mid-90's, he opened Nelly's Deli with Patrick Warburton on a Super Bowl Sunday. Kevin discovered a love for art and developed his talent carving in wood, stone, glass and bone. His creations ranged from walking sticks to sports figures to wild life. Kevin was very generous with his creations and many can be seen in the homes of his family and friends. Kevin is survived by his parents Bill and Lee, Sister Kim (Gary) Quesnell, Nephews Shane (Kathy) and Chase (Jennifer) Quesnell. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 22nd from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at the Press Box, 1749 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the College of Southern Idaho Baseball Program or the Charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home and Crematory of Twin Falls, Idaho.
