Darlene Alice Walker

Darlene Alice Walker, 89, of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away Thursday July 23, 2015 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise, Idaho. She was born September 17th, 1925 in Watonga, Oklahoma to Melvin Leo Davis and Bessie Irene Shipley. Darlene was the second born of four children. She married Euil "Vede" Walker on June 25, 1942 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Logan, Utah Temple in 1945. They had six children, Marilyn Dudgeon (sons, John & Matthew) Gary (Dianna, son, Shane), Ronald, Michael (Trieste, daughter Tina) Richard (Kathy, daughter Sarah) and Russell (Tracey) daughters, Rheanne, Melisa (Son, Thane). Darlene often spent time with her family and loving husband while camping, fishing, and traveling the countryside. In 1952, Darlene and her husband Vede, opened their furniture store (Walker's Furniture & Appliance). With years of success the two retired in 1985. After their retirement, Darlene and her husband Vede became park rangers at the family's favorite camping and fishing grounds, known as Henry's Lake in Eastern Idaho. In 1993 they purchased a home in Quartzsite, Arizona where they spent the winter months together for many years. They traveled between states until 2009. With being unable to travel any longer Darlene and Vede lived with their son Mike and daughter in law Trieste at their home in Twin Falls. After losing the love of her life in 2011, Darlene traveled alone to spend time with family in Iona and Boise, Idaho. She was famous for her saying "I'm just sittin here," when family would call. Darlene was often times seen with her Ipad in one hand and cane in the other, any time she went out. Darlene is survived by 4 sons (Gary, Mike, Richard, Rusty), 4 grandchildren (John, Matt, Tina, Sarah), and 4 great grandchildren (Jerry, Jordin, Sierra, Elspeth). Proceeding her in death were her parents (Father Melvin, Mother Bessie), her husband (Vede), 2 children (Daughter Marilyn, Son Ronald) ,and 1 grandson (Shane). Funeral Services for Darlene will be held at on Saturday August 01, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4th Ward, 723 Hankins Rd N., Twin Falls, ID. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road, in Twin Falls and for one hour prior to services (from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.) at the church. Interment will take place following the services in the Twin Falls Cemetery, Twin Falls, ID.
