TWIN FALLS Vonda Vilate Hancock Sheen, 88, passed away peacefully in her home Early Wednesday morning, Jun. 10, 2015, and was welcomed home by her waiting family in a beautiful reunion On April 21, 1927. She was born in Payson, Utah, to Vernon and Emma Luella Hancock. She grew up in Utah, with six siblings, she was the baby of the family and was immediately a spirited, strong, presence and loved by them so much. They all would say "Vonda Vilate don't linger at the gate or you'll be late" but they never needed to look out for her, she took care of herself, independent and capable. Vonda was married on Sept 11, 1946 to Glen Lamar Sheen, whom she would support, love and serve all the rest of his life. Their marriage of 67 years was never boring. Three sons were born to them: Glen Russell in 1948, Ernest Eugene in 1950 and Stephen Jay in 1953. Sadly, Stephen lived only three days Vonda cherished and tenderly kept him near her heart the rest of her life. Vonda showed how to be the most loving, kind, generous mother and friend so much so that not only her son's but every grandchild would not be who they are today without her influence and guidance. She worked as an editor for the Times News, She had multiple homemaker abilities, including an excellent cook, and used them to help others. She also worked for Williams's bakery and Babbel's drycleaner. She kept a beautiful yard and was always a welcoming neighbor. She helped build her community and served in her church. Being a Den Mother and her cub scouts was by far a favorite. You could also regularly find her giving rides to youth to and from events. Vonda bowled and was on one of the first women's bowling leagues in Twin Falls, Idaho.
