Dorothy Bailey Cline Custer

May 30, 1911 — April 22, 2015

Dorothy B. Cline Custer May 30, 1911- April 22, 2015 TWIN FALLS Dorothy B. Cline Custer 103, of Twin Falls surrounded by her family at home, "flew away like a butterfly" to her new home in Heaven on April 22nd, 2015. Dorothy was born May 30, 1911 in Hailey, Idaho to Charles Clay and Theresa Elizabeth Cline. She lived her entire life in the Twin Falls area. Dorothy's exploits such as ziplineing and base jumping and her life history have been heralded in newspaper, TV, internet and the Jay Leno Show. Thanks to her grandson she has become Idaho's Grandma on Facebook with many "grandchildren" followers. For decades she dressed up and performed (more than 150 times) as one of her 11 different characters playing the harmonica and telling jokes for many special events in the community. She was best known for her impersonation of "Granny Clampitt" from the '60's TV show Beverly Hillbillies. She performed this roll so many times many folks knew her only as "Granny". Dorothy was very active in the community as a 4-H leader, a Sunday school teacher, helping with boy scouts, working at the visitor's center, delivering blood for the American Red Cross. She was active in Blue Birds/Good Sam RV group, raising money for charity, writing and organizing skits and performing locally and throughout the Western states. Dorothy truly believed that we were put on this earth to help others not just ourselves. She was an encourager and to those who needed uplifting she would say......" I can, I will and I do believe!" She was a lover of poetry and could recite many lengthy poems memorized in childhood..... they were just a part of her. Dorothy was a lover of music and often awoke in the morning with a song in her head. She did not rest until she remembered all the words to that song. She played the harmonica by ear and a few days before she left this earth she played "Amazing Grace" much to the amazement of her children. Dorothy loved her family and she said she had the best kids and grandkids anyone could have. She devoted her life to them. Many have told her what an inspiration she has been to them but she would say..." I am just me.....a plain ol' country girl". Dorothy is survived by her 3 children; Colleen Weston (John) of Olympia, WA, Neal Custer (Dianna) of Boise, Idaho and Carole Waller (Ron) of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; grandchildren Jeff, Greg, Kelli, Troy, Tracy and Tanya; step grandchildren; Randy, Russ, Rebecca, Shawn, Mica and Ty; 3 great grandchildren, 7 step great-grandchildren, 1 step great great-grandchild; cousin Margaret, nephew Jim, niece Nancy and good friend Joss and Christy the mother of 2 of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin of 68 years and her oldest son, Gary The viewing will be Friday May 1st from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Parke's Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Rd., Twin Falls.
