Francis Marion Egbert Jr. Long time Twin Falls resident, Francis Marion Egbert Jr. died Saturday morning, April 4, 2015, at his home just 5 days from his 95th birthday. He was born in Twin Falls, Idaho April 9, 1920 to Francis Marion Egbert and Xenia Hale Egbert. Francis had 5 younger sisters. Ora (Darri ngton), Mae (Moyes), Doris (Noyes), Donna (Allen), Thea (Probasco/Workman) to whom he was a devoted big brother. He spent his early years in Albion, then at 8 yrs old the family moved to Murtaugh. Francis graduated from Murtaugh High School. He then attended Albion State Normal School and graduated as a teacher. He loved to attend his High School and College reunions and renew those friendships each year. August 20, 1941 Francis married the love of his life, Elsie Lea Arrington in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple and they were sealed for Time and All Eternity. They have 10 children: David (Ann Stokes), Lea (Gary Andreason-deceased), Kendal (Beckie Davidson), Carol (Ray Conover). Merl (Kathlyn Barrus), Myrna, (Wesley Frey), Loa (Kim Anderson-deceased), Donald (Lori Hansen), Douglas (Carleen O'Keefe), and Maurice (Amber Mix). Egbert served in the US Army at the end of WWII in Okinawa as an instructor of English and Electronics to the GI's until the war ended. He returned home January, 1946. After returning home he farmed and then taught school in Castleford. He apprenticed under L.M. Benton CPA to become an Accountant and went on to own his own Accounting Business for many years in Twin Falls. Egbert's hobbies included fishing, camping, gardening, music, woodworking, and especially Magic Valley History. He spent his retirement years studying, giving tours and lectures about the Valley and Snake River Canyon. His home in the Snake River Canyon across the river from the Shoshone Falls Park was his dream home. He drew the plans on a napkin one day and a year later they moved down to the Canyon Club Estates where they lived for about 30 years. They then lived South of Twin Falls between two of their sons. Francis was active in the LDS Church, serving in many callings, including the 1st Bishop of Twin Falls 7th ward. He served a stake mission, then he and Elsie served in the Boise Temple and Atlanta Temple Mission. His dedication to his Heavenly Father showed in his genealogical and temple service his whole life. Egbert is survived by 10 children, 51 grandchildren and 163 great grandchildren whom they were proud of, dearly loved and were grateful for. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 5 sisters, 2 sons-in-law, and a grandson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the LDS church 2680 Elizabeth Blvd, Twin Falls. Visitation will be held Friday, April 10, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Rd. Twin Falls and from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be held following services at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls, ID.
