Shirley Lutz

December 4, 1930 — March 20, 2015

Shirley Ann Lutz, age 84, of Twin Falls, quietly passed away in her home on Friday, March 20, 2015. On the morning of the first day of spring with a golden and glorious sunrise, she began her new life with her Heavenly Father. Shirley was born December 4, 1930, the daughter of Albert and Oliva Schroeder in Filer, Idaho. Shirley grew up on the Clover Tract. She was a member of Clover Trinity Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. As a young adult she was a member of the Walther League and after marriage was a faithful member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Shirley married her partner for life, John, on January 4, 1948 cherishing 67 years together. They were blessed with five children, Dennis, Yvonne, Bruce, Sonya, and Tamara. Whatever adventure John chose to pursue, Shirley was by his side with the love and support of a strong Christian wife. Shirley taught her children how to work hard but always had time for family fun. She was the enthusiast for the Lutz Family Singers. She organized practices around the family piano and schedule engagements where John and their children could share their gift of music. Shirley was a humble, behind-the-scene servant with the gift of hospitality opening her home with a meal ready to be served. They made their home on the family farm in Clover for twenty-five years. They then moved to Twin Falls and farmed on the Bell Rapids project. Later they moved to Wilderness Ranch, on the road to Idaho City. In 1999, when Shirley's peripheral neuropathy advanced, they returned to Twin Falls to be closer with family. Even through her cross of pain and suffering, she always had a smile. Shirley's life was centered around her Lord and Savior, loving husband, children, and grandchildren. For many years Shirley created memories for the grandchildren when she and John would take them all together for a week in the mountains. She was the prayer warrior for the family, naming each child and grandchildren personally every evening in her prayers. Shirley is survived by her husband, John; children Dennis (Donna) Lutz, Clover, Yvonne (Kenneth) Reinke, Bruce (Nancy) Lutz, Sonya (Dan) Denton, all of Twin Falls, and Tamara (Ron) Rehwalt, Meridian. She is survived by 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; one sister, Verla (Ross) Comstock, Portage, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Wayne and Myrl Schroeder, and one sister, Delores Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Caleb Lutz and Stefan Stults. A funeral will be held Saturday, March 28, 11:00 AM at Clover Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the Clover Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho. The family wished to thank those who so lovingly cared for Shirley in her last days, Karen Luker, and the many dedicated providers of Visions Hospice along with meals from Clover LWML. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to be given to the Clover Trinity Lutheran Church, Clover Trinity Lutheran School or Huntington's disease Society of America. Contributions may be given to Parke's Funeral Home or mailed to Clover Trinity Lutheran Church, 3550 N. 1825 E., Buhl, Idaho, 83316. Those who wish may share memories on Shirley's Memorial Page at www.magicvalleyfuneralhome.com.
