Norma "Jo" Thompson

July 21, 1927 — March 18, 2015

Norma Jo Thompson, 87, of Twin Falls, passed away, Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Bridgeview Estates. "Jo" was born July 21, 1927, in Oakley, Idaho. The daughter of Gene and Lucia Price. She attended schools in Oakley and Burley. She graduated in 1945 from Burley High School. In 1945 she met the man in which she would spend the next 70 years with. Jo and Elwood "Cotton" Thompson were married on August 28, 1945 in the Salt Lake City Temple, for all time and eternity. Jo and Cotton had 3 sons; Ken, Steve, and Brent. They later moved to Twin Falls, where Cotton worked for Glen Jenkins Chevrolet dealership as an auto painter. Jo held many callings in the Church, including; Primary teacher, Sunday School teacher, Beehive teacher, Stake Sunday School and Den Mother. She also worked part time at Stoker's Dairy, Fredrickson's Candy and the Shoshone Falls gift shop, but her most important job was taking care of her three boys and her husband. Cotton and Jo loved to spend time at the family cabin in the Sawtooth Mountains. After the cabin was sold, they bought a camp trailer and continued their mountain adventures. She is survived by her husband, "Cotton"; her sons, Ken (Laura) Thompson, Steve (Kerry) Thompson and Brent (Kim) Thompson; her sister, Sue Sheen; her brother and sister in law, John and Arlene Thompson; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Shirley Jolley; her brothers, Bob and Larry Price; and a great granddaughter, Kendall Howe. Mom was always there for us. Her bright smile and her sharp wit always made those around her smile. She was a super mom, a super wife, and a super person. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Bridgeview Estates for their care and support. Funeral service will be held, under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints, 874 Eastland Drive North, Twin Falls, Idaho. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M on the day of service. Interment will follow at Twin Falls Cemetery. Online condolences can be submitted to www.magicvalleyfuneralhome.com.
