Maurice V. Klaas passed away on March 18, 2015 at Cedar Draw Assisted Living in Filer, Idaho. He went to be with his Lord and Savior after living a very adventurous life of 97 years. Maurice was born in the Village of Clyde, Missouri on May 23, 1917. He was born to Oscar E. Klaas and Frances G. (Gartin) Klaas. He was the third of four boys. When Maurice was in the second grade, his mother and baby sister, Beatrice, died in childbirth. After the death of his mother and sister, he and his family moved to the Magic Valley area where the family farmed. Maurice attended school in Maroa, Twin Falls, and graduated from Filer High School in 1935. On July 1, 1939 he married the love of his life, Pearl A. Miller, his little red-headed, Kansas-born girl. From this union were born two daughters, Maureen and Sue, and one son, Kelly. Throughout his life, Maurice was involved in the grocery business, farming, cattle ranching and real estate. He served a two year term as Twin Falls County Commissioner from 1960 until 1964. He also served as a board member and the chairman of the Twin Falls Canal Company. He was a fifty year member of the Filer Kiwanis Club and attended St. Edward's Catholic Church for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Pearl, and his daughter, Maureen, brothers, Herschel, Lawrence, Harold and a half-brother Gene. He is survived by one brother, Oscar E. Klaas of Tacoma, Washington, his daughter, Sue, from Meridian, Idaho, and son, Kelly (Connie) of Twin Falls, Idaho. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Everyone loved him and he loved them. Arrangements are under the direction of Parke's Funeral Home of Twin Falls, Idaho. Maurice's memorial service will be held Saturday, April 11 at 2:00 pm at Parke's Funeral Home. 2551 Kimberly Rd., Twin Falls.
