Alice Lorene Fairchild went home to her Heavenly Father's house on Wednesday, February 25, 2015. She was born to Jess and Teilia Johnson on May 31, 1924 in Moline, KS. In the 1920's her and her family migrated to Buhl, ID. Alice married Crandall Rouse when she was 18. Together they had 2 children, Jimmie and Freddie Rouse. Later, they divorced. In 1948, she met the love of her life, Vernon Fairchild on Main Street in Buhl, ID. The story is told that Vernon whistled at Alice from across the street. Alice in return told him I won't give you the time of day unless you buy a belt to hold those jeans up". Vernon ended up purchasing a belt the same day, tracked Alice down and asked her out. She agreed to go out with him.the rest is history. Vernon and Alice raised 6 kids while she was cooking for 30 men on a Sheep Shearing crew, later put herself through beauty collage. She became a well-known beautician in the Buhl area and remained a working beautician until the age of 78. Alice then took up her life-long passion of fishing. If mom wasn't at home, all you had to do is look and see if her pickup and camper were gone, if it was, she was fishing. She did keep a close eye on her inventory of canned pickles and asparagus before she left. Canning was another one of her passions in life. She was very open and honest, if you didn't want to hear the truth, then you better not ask her. Everywhere she went she had friends and if she didn't then she was sure to make some. Our family is so blessed to have had her in our life for so long. She will be missed, we will see her again. Love you Mom.
