James Larry Callentine

March 19, 1948 — February 11, 2015

Jim went home to be with the Lord on February 11 and now is free from cancerous disease and the challenges presented by life with it. He is missed by his family and friends, but now is at peace. Jim, a graduate of Coshocton High School played football and wrestled. Playing football during and after his post-secondary years developed his life-long love of the game that could be seen in his coaching and support of his elder son Brian's and grandson Ethan's playing of the game. His younger son Brandon followed in his footsteps as a wrestler. Jim's support of the Ohio State Buckeyes was well known to all who knew him. After enlisting in the United States Air Force, Jim became a patrol scout dog handler working both stateside and in Vietnam. He married his wife of 43 years, Katherine (Kay) Kevan having met her on assignment at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, CA. Upon completion of his service to his country, Jim went to Merced College and Fresno State University graduating with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Jim served the Merced County Probation Office for 31 years as a supervising officer and being last assigned as the court and traffic hearing officer. He retired in 2006 and moved with his family to Twin Falls, Idaho. Jim is survived by his wife Kay, sons Brian (Amber) and Brandon, grandsons Wesley, Ethan, and Gaven, mother-in-law Barbara Kevan, sisters-in-law Mary Kevan, Barbie Schaeffer, Jackie Kevan (Jeff Drake), Candie Kevan (Dan Vance), numerous nieces and nephews, and sister Laurie (Leonard Harmon). Godspeed beloved Veteran, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend! In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions made in his name to: First Baptist Church 910 Shoshone Street East, Twin Falls, Idaho 83301.
